I've posted a few Photoshop tutorials on TikTok. I used the Adobe Premiere Rush app on my phone to edit the videos. My first videos were on how to make a mixed brush in Photoshop and how to make a brush out of an object or image. These are basically digital art type tutorials and most people do not know that Photoshop is not only made for photo editing. Photoshop is a very useful app for digital art, photo editing and video editing as well. I've used it for a lot of my Society6 art in conjunction with other apps. I can't afford to also have Adobe Illustrator or the whole Creative Cloud Bundle, but I love Illustrator as well. Here's the link to my first video on TikTok. I will try to add the detailed steps on here as well. Hope this helps and if you would like to know how I did any of the pieces on my Society6 shop, please ask. I will answer as soon as I can. In the meantime here's the first tutorial from my Youtube channel. Enjoy and thanks for watching! šā
You will have to make a template for the brush. You can save it to make more brushes. It will have to be 1000x1000 Pixels with a Transparent background. It helps a lot if you name it Brush Template.
Make sure you are in the Painting Workspace of Photoshop. You will select the workspace button on the top right hand side. Its the third icon that looks like a square. In the pop up menu select Painting.
Select the Brush Tool. You will need to select a basic hard round brush to draw a few different colors next to each other and or layered. This will create your brush of many colors.
Once you are done Select the Mixed Brush Tool. Then make sure you use the same basic hard round brush to select the part of you colors you like best. Make sure Dry, Heavy Load is also selected in the top brush menu. Simply place the brush over the area you like and if you have a MAC your shortcut to select the area is Click+Option key. For PC you Click+ALT key. I say click because either way if you're using a mouse or a wacom tablet you have to click and press the key to capture (screen shot) the area. You know the area is captured because you will see the colors at top in the brush area of Photoshop.
You can then open a new file and test out your new brush. If you like it you can save the brush in the Brush Settings Menu. You can also adjust the brush in the Brush Settings Menu. The possibilities for editing your brushes are endless in the Brush Setting Menu. Once you like the brush you click on the folder at top next to the brush. Its a little folder with a brush on it, and a menu pops up. On the right hand corner of the Brush Setting Menu there are lines, and you click on those and another pop up shows a menu. You will select New Brush Preset. Then you can name your brush on that pop up, and make sure that all three boxes in that pop up are selected. Then click OK and your new mixed brush is saved. It will be the last brush in your brush catalog.
You can save mixed brushes or just plain brushes with a color you customized.
Hope this helps! Make sure you watch the next tutorial which is way more fun,
